Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
